Abstract

Bullying is a global problem. On the one hand, this behavior encourages authorities to tighten regulations against perpetrators. However, on the other hand, bullying is often considered a phase that must be passed in the process of adolescent and adult growth. We sometimes forget that the impact of bullying really affects a person's future. The short-term effects of bullying are usually very obvious, especially if it occurs physically. On the other hand, in the long term, children who have been victims of bullying tend to experience difficulties in social interactions, are more susceptible to psychological disorders, and often need psychiatric help. Physical wounds resulting from bullying are easy to see and are often a reason for the perpetrator to apologize. However, what about the mental impact? Crying after being a victim is of course only a temporary reaction. Years later, the victim's mental health can be seriously affected, even leading to depression. This is not just a complaint from victims of bullying, but the results of research that shows the real situation. Therefore, it is important for everyone, especially children, parents and teachers, to understand the impact of bullying, both in the short and long term. In an effort to prevent bullying behavior, several strategies that can be implemented include habituation through positive examples, organizing religious activities, as well as socialization and education regarding the impact of bullying behavior. In addition, it is important to create a safe reporting culture and provide strict sanctions for bullying.
